Daybreak

The eternal truth is there shall never be dark so long
That it is not followed by dawn.

I always thought you knew
When I gave you my heart
I also promised to spend the night with you.

I didn’t question how dark or how long it would be

The darkness of night has swallowed a year
But the sweet smell of daybreak is gentle and near.
